Day 3
Use the patient's additional test results (ECG and radiograph) available to you.
1. Compare the patient's chest radiograph to the normal radiograph. Identify two significant findings on the patient's radiograph that help support your tentative diagnosis. Explain.
2. What is responsible for the muffled heart sounds?
3. What is the source of the patient’s pain?
4. How would you characterize the arrhythmia on the ECG? What would you propose as the cause? Use the normal ECG if you are having trouble, or use the resource on reading ECGs here.
5. What is causing the swelling in the feet and ankles?
6. What other differentials on your list can be ruled out? Explain. Are there any new possibilities that you would like to add to your list?
